SARA WALLANDER-ROSS
Raised in northern Sweden in a family of craftsmen, artists and entrepreneurs, Sara Wallander-Ross inherited great respect for old buildings and old skills. She believes in a careful and sensitive approach to both houses and owners, working with patience, a light hand and a long view; attuned to what already exists before deciding what should change.
Before turning to interiors, she spent decades in the performing arts. That experience brought a detailed understanding of how space affects us, how light alters what we see, and how materials and colour influence atmosphere and mood. Drawing unique maquettes inspired by stage process, she maps interior scale and proportions before identifying the room's inherent disposition. Rigorous stage practice requires a sense of preparation, discipline, and timing: the same principles needed to work with a house, not against it.
The house always comes first.
Period houses can be baffling. Endearing, eccentric, occasionally exasperating.
They are part stage, part sanctuary, but entirely a labour of love.
